What does it mean to return to Eden? It means to acknowledge and to return to God's fullness of truth, to return to God's presence in our life; it means that as a Christian I have returned to God's original plan for creation. God's original plan for creation was to give us a world of freedom, non-violence, peace and love; not a world of violence, lust, fear and exploitation of God's creatures. It is the same plan that Christ came to re-establish when He proclaimed, "Repent, the Kingdom of God is at hand." Jesus came to transform all of creation, to redeem it, to renew it and to give us hope of a peaceable kingdom (see Isa 65:21-25), and eternal union with God. Creation began as Eden and it will return to be as Eden, a place of peace, freedom and love where God's creatures will no longer hurt one another or be used for one's own gratification. Human and animal exploitation will finally end. As Christians we have this original calling to submit all of our self to God, which includes our diet and how we view God's creation. We must remember that God's creation is good, and we must protect it, preserve it and care for it. We begin this return to Eden by going on a pure vegetarian diet and by taking steps to help and care for God's animals, the earth and each other.
